Trapped Heart
A boy’s crazy love, which initially annoys the girl, later unknowingly turns into attraction. After countless funny incidents, a love relationship develops between the two, where the girl eventually agrees to the boy’s terms—but not to becoming the mother of a boy named Montu!
In this story, I really liked Snigdha’s patience, Nowshin’s stubbornness, and the sweet compromise at the end. I hope the story will win the hearts of many more!
Let’s get started!
The boy has been following me for a month. He follows me everywhere. I’ve endured a lot. Today, I’ll give him such a beating that he’ll run away, screaming. This face-off won’t work anymore.
I turned around, placed my hand on my waist, and said,
“What’s your problem? Why have you been following me for a month?”
The boy replied, “You’re a commerce student—how can you make such a mistake in accounting?”
“What do you mean?”
“I mean, I’ve been following you for 1 month and 9 days.”
“Oh, so what happened?”
“No, nothing happened. In accounting, every single day is important. Surely, you know that. If one day’s account is missed, the business’s financial balance could be wrong, and the correct financial picture will not be presented. And…”
He was about to say more. I raised my hand and said,
“Stop. Stop lecturing. Even my university professors don’t give such long lectures in class as you are.”
“Anyway, let’s get to the point. Why are you following me?”
“Because, 1 month and 10 days ago, I saw you and fell in love with you. And that day, I decided I would make you the mother of my son, Montu. So I am keeping an eye on you.”
I was thinking in my mind, *Who is this Montu?* And he wants to make me Montu’s mother. What is this guy talking about?
So I directly asked,
“Who is this Montu?”
He smiled and said, “Our son.”
“Where is he now?”
He scratched his head and shyly said, “Umm, he hasn’t arrived in the world yet. But if you want, we can bring him into this world together very soon, InshaAllah.”
What is this guy saying? After hearing this, my throat went dry. I started coughing. I kept coughing, grabbed a water bottle from my bag, and drank it all in one go. My anger had reached its peak. I took a deep breath, looked at him, and said,
“You bastard. Can’t you find somewhere else to make a fool of yourself? I’ll slap your face so hard, it will change the map of your face. You mental hospital escapee!”
“I have no relation with any mental hospital. But if you don’t become the mother of my son, you’ll very soon have a relationship with a mental hospital.”
I couldn’t bear any more of this idiot’s nonsense. I wanted to punch him so hard his nose would break. Then, everyone would see a guy with a broken nose… but wait, I don’t even know his name. Anyway, *”Broken Nose”*, without saying anything more, I stepped forward. And at that moment, “Broken Nose” started walking behind me.
I turned around with a fiery look and said,
“If you take one more step and follow me, I’ll cut your legs off and hang you on a tree.”
The guy stood still right there like a statue.
I was feeling proud of myself. The boy got scared by my words and didn’t follow me anymore.
I sat down to study in the evening. While sitting, I was analyzing my financial situation. But it just wasn’t adding up—what a problem. I figured out the solution and realized that I had taken a salary for 9 months instead of 6 months. Ugh, the guy was right after all.
Ugh, why am I even thinking about that bastard? Today, I’ve deleted that roadside Romeo from my path.
Suddenly, an unknown number called. I picked up the phone and said,
“Hello, who’s speaking?”
“Snigdha.”
“Which Snigdha?”
“Montu’s father.”
I jumped up.
“Roadside Romeo!! No, you’re not Roadside Romeo, you’re a dog. Why are you following me like a dog?”
“Aha, jaanu, don’t get angry.”
I screamed, “Hey, watch it. If you call me jaanu again, I’ll cut your tongue off and feed it to the dog.”
I was about to hang up when Snigdha said,
“Jaan, save this number, it’s Snigdha.”
I immediately hung up the phone. Then, I went to delete the number from my call list but didn’t do it. I wrote “Snigdha” and saved it, but then deleted it, leaving the number hanging in my call list.
The next day, Friday. College was closed. In the afternoon, I stood on the balcony. As I looked down, I saw the roadside bastard Romeo standing below.
What is he doing in front of my house? All this time, whenever I went out, he used to follow me, but today, he’s standing right in front of my house. I went to my room, hid behind the curtain of the window, and called him.
“Hey, what are you doing in front of my house? No work after eating?”
“No. It’s Friday, so no work after eating. That’s why, after eating, I came straight to see you. But the sad part is, after standing in this scorching sun for an hour, I couldn’t see you. Come out to the balcony for a bit.”
“Oh, come out to the balcony? Forget it. I’m not coming out. Please go away.”
I hung up the phone again.
In the morning, I hurried to get ready to go to college. As I went out through the gate, I saw that same roadside bastard Romeo. I don’t understand—does this guy have nothing better to do? Why is he following me even after I’ve told him not to?
I pretended not to see him as I walked. He was following me, calling me Montu’s mom, but I didn’t look back.
Is that Naushin??
I stopped. How does this guy know my name?
I frowned and said,
“How do you know my name?”
“Not just your name, I know everything.”
“Forget all that, let’s go somewhere, just you and me.”
“You bastard… Are you even human? Do you have ears? Didn’t you hear me telling you not to follow me?”
“Hmm, I can hear you. But these are not your heart’s words.”
“Why are you so shameless and bold? Did you sell your shame and modesty in the market?”
With that famous smile, he replied,
“Why, do you want to buy it?”
My whole body shook with anger. I saw a broken brick nearby. I quietly picked it up, but the guy ran. I threw it, but I was too weak to make it travel far.
Ugh, I missed him.
I continued my class calmly. I didn’t see that guy again when I was leaving.
At night, I was sleeping when suddenly my phone rang. I picked it up with sleepy eyes.
“Hello…”
“Hey, Montu’s mom, are you sleeping?”
I jumped up.
“What’s your problem? Can’t I get some peaceful sleep for once?”
“After taking my sleep, you’ll sleep peacefully? Why are you so selfish?”
“I can’t sleep, let’s talk for a bit, baby.”
“Baby? Am I a 1-year-old child? Why are you calling me baby? I’m going to sleep now, and if you call again, it won’t end well. You farmyard chicken.”
I hung up the phone angrily. I was so annoyed. I was sleeping so peacefully, and he ruined it.
Early in the morning, I woke up but decided not to go to college today. After eating, I went back to sleep. I didn’t turn on my phone, so there was no one to disturb me. After lunch, I took a shower, ate, and went to the balcony. The surroundings were getting dark. The sky was covered with black clouds, and the wind was blowing. It looked like it was going to rain. So, I went inside, closed all the doors and windows. The rain started to fall softly.
I turned on my phone and saw so many messages.
- “Naushin, why aren’t you going out today? Aren’t you going to university?”
- “Why have you turned off your phone? I’m so worried.”
- “Is your health okay? I’m really concerned.”
- “I’m feeling so restless. I haven’t seen you all day. I even went past your house several times.”
- “I’ve called you hundreds of times. Please call me when you turn on your phone. I’m not feeling well.”
Just then, my phone rang.
“Hello.”
“Naushin, what kind of person are you? Who turns off their phone all day? You don’t know how worried I was. Are you okay?”
“I’m fine. And I’ll do whatever I want with my phone. What about you?”
“Why do you always do this to me? Anyway, could you come to the balcony for a bit? I’m standing downstairs. It’s raining heavily, and I just want to see you before I leave.”
“Listen, just leave. I’m not coming to the balcony.”
“Naushin, please. I’m getting soaked in the rain. I’ll leave right after seeing you.”
“I’m not coming. Don’t get wet in the rain, just leave.”
“If you don’t come, I’ll stay here.”
“If you like getting wet in the rain, go ahead.”
I hung up the phone. This guy shouldn’t be given any attention; otherwise, he’ll start acting all crazy. He’ll show up every day with new demands.
Twenty minutes later, a message came: “I’m still standing here. I’ve gotten completely soaked in the rain. I’m feeling really cold.”
I got up, moved the window curtain, and saw that he was indeed standing across the street. I felt a little sympathy. I opened the door, went to the balcony, and he smiled as soon as he saw me, drenched in the rain.
I messaged him to leave.
The next day, I didn’t see him while going to college or coming back. No phone calls, no messages.
That night, the phone rang. I was about to say something when he spoke first:
“I know I’m bothering you. Please don’t hang up.”
His voice sounded soft. What was going on? Why was he speaking so calmly?
“I got sick after getting drenched in the rain yesterday. I have a fever and feel really weak. My mom wouldn’t let me leave the house, so I couldn’t see you today. Please talk to me for a bit. If I die with a 103-degree fever, you’ll regret not talking to me.”
My heart skipped a beat. For some reason, I spoke to him for a long time. After the conversation, I said,
“Look, you’re sick, so I spoke to you this much. Don’t think anything else.”
He laughed in response.
The next morning, my mom woke me up early. When I asked why, she said,
“Aunt and uncle are coming suddenly, and I need you to help around the house today. So, don’t go to college.”
I agreed. Aunt came over with my cousin, and I spent a long time chatting with them. After lunch, I took my phone and saw 21 missed calls and 12 messages from Snigdha. I was about to check the messages when my cousin, Onik, said,
“Naushin, get ready. We’re going out.”
I left the phone and got ready in 10 minutes. We went out together. As we were walking out, Snigdha suddenly appeared and ran toward me:
“Naushin, why aren’t you picking up my calls?”
He looked at Onik and asked,
“Who’s this guy?”
An idea popped into my mind. I grabbed Onik’s hand and said to Snigdha,
“This is my boyfriend. We’ve been in a relationship for two years. We’re getting married in a year.”
Snigdha’s face instantly turned pale, and without saying anything, he walked away.
When I got home, I checked my phone and saw Snigdha’s message:
“Naushin, if I had known you had a boyfriend, I would never have bothered you. If you had just told me you loved someone else… Anyway, I’ve bothered you a lot. I’m sorry. I’ll never disturb you again. Take care.”
I should have been happy after reading the message, but I didn’t feel that way. Anyway, it seemed like this trouble was finally over.
The next day, I didn’t see him anywhere. No phone calls, no messages. I guess I’ve finally gotten rid of him.
But trouble arose a few days later. Every time I went out, my eyes only searched for him. I always looked for him. I would stare at my phone for hours, hoping for a message or a call from him. I miss his words, his madness, so much. Sometimes, I get really angry with myself. I feel like pulling my own hair out. What was the need to act like this? To make my cousin my boyfriend? It’s decided.
I, who once refused to go to the balcony even after a thousand of his requests, now spend most of my time on the balcony. I search for him. Ugh, I miss Snigdha so much.
Sometimes, I feel like calling him and telling him everything, but I can’t. This is how my days were passing, in his absence.
After 10–12 days, I was coming home from coaching when I suddenly saw Snigdha at the local corner. He was standing there eating “fuchka” with a girl. The girl looked familiar. She lives in the neighborhood. But what’s Snigdha doing with her?
I stood behind him and cleared my throat.
Snigdha turned around and said,
“Oh, Naushin, is that you? How are you?”
I asked, “Who’s this girl?”
Snigdha smiled and said,
“This is my girlfriend, Bindu. Shishir Bindu.”
I was shocked. His girlfriend?
“You probably know her. She lives in the house next to yours. Since you never had a relationship, I thought I’d find someone from your neighborhood to help me move on from you.”
My mood completely shifted. I grabbed him by the collar and said,
“Shameless jerk, characterless. Two days ago, you were chasing me, and now, in just two days, you’ve got a new girlfriend? You told me how much you loved me… and now it’s all over in two days? Actually, it’s my fault… I… I…”
I couldn’t finish. The tears inside me were welling up. My eyes were watering. I felt like I was going to break down, so I turned around and started walking away. The tears in my eyes were falling like rain. I wiped my eyes while walking. Snigdha was calling me from behind.
He ran up to me and stood in front of me, then said,
“Does it hurt? It hurt for me too, when you introduced your cousin as your boyfriend.”
I stared at him in shock.
Seeing my expression, Snigdha smirked and said,
“Yes, I know he’s your cousin. I wanted to teach you a lesson. She’s not my girlfriend. She’s my cousin. She gave me all your information. So, every day, I have to feed her ‘fuchka’ as a bribe.”
A smile crept onto my face. Snigdha grinned and said,
“Finally, you’ve fallen in love. So, when are you going to become my son’s mother?”
I raised an eyebrow and replied,
“It’s not that easy. First, I need an interview.”
“How far have you come in your studies?”
“I graduated last year with a Master’s in the Accounting Department.”
“Do you have a job?”
“No.”
“Then get a job. Anything small will do. No father will give his daughter to a jobless guy. So, first, get a job, and then send the proposal to my house. I’ll take care of the rest.”
There’s no need for that. I’m not unemployed.”
“What do you mean?”
“I mean, I have a restaurant. KFC. The place where you often go with your friends.”
“That’s your restaurant?”
“Yes, that’s where I first saw you. And then, I followed you all the way here. So, shall I come to your house tomorrow?”
“Hmm. But I have one condition.”
Snigdha eagerly asked,
“What now?”
“You can’t name the kid Montu. I don’t want such an outdated name for my child. Will you agree?”
Snigdha chuckled, and so did I.
